If ever you’ve wanted to spend a great New Year’s Eve somewhere, consider spending it the Bahamas.
From the Junkanoo celebration, to going to the beach during the day (which so many Americans dream about when there’s several inches of snow outside their door), to partying all night, the Bahamas delivers fun and merriment.
Junkanoo is a particular Bahamian-way to celebrate the new year. It’s been celebrated for more than a century and, while it’s geared to Bahama residents, visitors are highly encouraged to participate.
Junkanoo starts during the day on New Year’s Eve with a parade of bands and exceedingly colorful costumes (often made of cardboard with colorful streams of paper glued to them). The procession/parades may end (some would argue that they never really do) but the festive-making truly doesn’t stop until the morning of January 1. Rest up well before December 31!

If you’d rather spend a romantic evening in your hotel room with your loved one as you ring in the new year, many hotels and resorts offer some terrific romantic New Year’s Eve packages, complete with in-suite dinners for two and champagne crystal goblets for midnight toasting!
Spend New Year’s Day walking on a lovely, white-sand beach, snorkeling, snoozing on under a beach umbrella, writing postcards to friends in colder climates, and more.
The point? Just come to the Bahamas. Spend New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day here. Just. Come. To. The. Bahamas!
